Hours of work: Full-time, Monday to Friday the role is based 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home either on a Monday or Friday.
Job Purpose:
- Ensure all transactions are processed by the Documentary Credits team accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Create and provide a training plan and training for all members of the Doc Credits Team
- Provide cover for the Doc Credit manager
- Ensure the Documentary Credit Department follows banks Policy and Procedures.
Main Responsibilities:
- Issuance/advising of approved documentary credit products for banks customers and financial institution relationships.
- Processing of documentary credit activity in accordance with the approved terms of the transaction, ensuring all activity is correctly reflected on the banks GL system.
- Review documentary credit documents, liaison with appropriate counterparties in relation to discrepancies and payment.
- Response to internal and external queries in relation to documentary credit transactions and services.
- Ensure approved transaction fees have been received and processed.
- Provide technical support to internal and external parties in relation to documentary credit products.
- Provide cover for Doc Credit Manager during absence including attendance at meetings as delegated by the manager.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support Manager regarding the leadership, direction and motivation to the Documentary Credit Department.
- Create and provide a training plan for each member of the Doc Credit team.
- Provide technical support to internal and external parties in relation to documentary credit products.
- Escalation to Doc Credit Manager of issues/errors together with detailed resolution plans where appropriate.
- Participate on behalf of the department in regard to new processes and services.
- Review/Update department procedure manuals in line with appropriate policies
- Ensure the Bank’s AML, counter terrorist financing, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption and fraud prevention, complaint handling and treating your customer fairly policies, procedures and together with other regulated regulatory guidelines are adhered to at all times by the Documentary Credit Department personnel as the first line of defense of AML Risk Management.
- Ensure the policies and procedures for the Senior Managers and Certification regimes and Conduct Rules requirements are adhered to by relevant Documentary Credit Department personnel.
- Ensure appropriate levels of staff and knowledge are available on a daily basis to support the Documentary Credit processes with projection for future capacity requirements.
- Develop and maintain appropriate BCP departmental plans and ensure regular testing of scenarios. Take part in contingency testing.
- Update Task diary, maintain spread sheets, create new spread sheets where required.
- Organize and control workflow and ensure all tasks are given correct priority.
Experience & Skills required:
- 5 years or more working in a Trade Finance Department.
- Full and detailed knowledge of UCP 600/ISBP/URDG/Incoterms 2020/ and all other required Trade Finance publications.
- Detailed knowledge of all technical aspects of Trade Finance work.
- Checking documents against L/C to third check level without supervision or training required.
- Worked in Trade Finance department at supervisor level or above.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in checking other staffs work.
- Ability to train, motivate and coach colleagues in all aspects of Trade Finance.
